Preparing and developing teaching staff for the use of technology is so important. To get the very most out of your investment, your institution will want to ensure that technology is being adopted and used to its full potential.

The Digital Learning Team (DLT) are XMA’s in-house team of Apple Professional Learning Specialists (APLS). All lifelong educators, they are from a variety of backgrounds which mean that they are all uniquely qualified to demonstrate and advise on how best to use technology to enhance learning and teaching. Our team coach, mentor and support educators from Early Years to Higher Education to advance their technology skills, with an emphasis on innovation and creativity to engage students in deeper, more meaningful learning in line with national priorities and key learning outcomes. Every student, teacher and educational establishment is different and therefore every day is different. Our team facilitate leadership discussions to support vision and planning, and provide professional learning plans which match learning goals as well as hands-on instructional coaching and mentoring.

Michael Conlon - Transformation Consultant

Michael uses his over 25 years experience in educational leadership, digital literacy and computing science to help local authorities and schools develop transformational learning and teaching projects. He has been involved in significant school and local authority deployments of iPad across Scotland and worked as part of the Digital Learning and Literacy team at Education Scotland, the executive agency responsible for supporting quality and improvement in Scottish education. Michael has a passion for learning, teaching and leadership, in particular leveraging tools for accessibility and creativity. He is an Apple Professional Learning Specialist (APLS) and has managed Apple Regional Training Centres in Scotland. Michael enjoys the endless opportunities technology has to offer to be creative, be curious and help manifest your ideas and ambitions.

Jennifer Dryden - Learning Consultant

Jennifer is a Primary teacher and has worked across various schools and local authorities. Working with a wide range of learning and behavioural needs, she is passionate about the accessibility, equality and engagement that having iPad’s in the classroom can bring. Jennifer is an Apple Professional Learning Specialist (APLS) and loves nothing more than seeing those light bulb moments during training when teachers can see the full potential of technology in the classroom. Her favourite thing about iPad is the versatility of the native apps. She loves that each one can be used in so many different ways to fit the needs of the institution, its staff and their learners.

Nicola Paterson - Learning Consultant

Nicola is an Apple Professional Learning Specialist (APLS) with 9 years experience in the primary classroom. Since 2016 she has been working with both primary and secondary schools delivering training focused on enhancing teaching and learning with technology. Nicola was also involved in a wide variety of curriculum development projects through devolved leadership roles. Nicola now provides educators with practical and innovative ideas to use iPad as a tool to transform classroom learning and creativity across the curriculum. She is particularly passionate about providing opportunities for creative film making using apps such as iMovie and Clips.

Stuart Cheyne - Learning Consultant

Stuart is a Digital Learning Consultant and member of the Digital Learning Team at XMA. He is currently supporting education establishments across the UK to facilitate, mentor and coach effective teaching and learning initiatives. Stuart holds a wealth of experience as an established principal and primary school teacher. As an Apple Professional Learning Specialist (APLS), Stuart provides tailor-made learning sessions to suit a range of needs and abilities towards integrating technology within the curriculum. He is particularly interested in enhancing digital skills to promote creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking.
