Enhancing creativity with Chromebooks at Leo Academy Trust

EKO Trust wished to simplify their systems, infrastructure and services to improve the service to users of ICT and drive down costs. They were using outdated tools and wished to move to a more cloud-centric, flexible and mobile solution, with a managed service appropriate to the new IT world they wished to build. EKO Trust selected XMA based on their criteria for industry standard, non-proprietary systems, with a cloud-first approach. They recognised XMA’s accreditations covered Google, Microsoft and Apple at the highest level. Our experience in delivering managed services to similar sized Trusts in London gave them confidence they could put their Service in safe hands.

Traditionally, social science labs tend to be in a room with computers to run the experiments, but we wanted to invest in an infrastructure that is flexible and allows social scientists across many different disciplines in the University to complete their research projects.

Planning Essentials drives vision for Connected Falkirk Programme

We’ve managed to consolidate fourteen entire racks worth of various kinds of blade chassis and storage arrays into just twenty rack units of space. So it’s been quite an impressive consolidation piece for us to get into hyperconvergence.”

The Dynabook roll out went smoothly, with the university commenting that XMA went above and beyond to get everything done. University staff have found the C-range devices easy to use, even though they offer a high level of technical functionality. And due to the entry-level nature of the Dynabook C-range, the university was able to purchase laptops for hardship students who couldn’t afford their own. This meant no student was left at a disadvantage when the university transitioned to remote learning.

From the initial envisioning of the Connected Falkirk programme, we worked with XMA through their Apple Planning Essentials workshop, which allowed us to identify the key tasks and accountabilities for our partnership working. XMA have supported the Connected Falkirk team vision all the way through this journey, from logistics to learning.
